![]() | Several times a year the Halifax Initiative needs your support to try and get decision-makers to make the right decisions that respect human rights and the environment. The issues might be the harassment (or worse) of activists in developing countries opposing IFI-supported projects or policies, an upcoming vote by the Canadian Executive Directors of the World Bank and the IMF on a bad project or policy, or a complete lack of Canadian political leadership on an issue such as forced privatization, debt cancellation or mismanagement of natural resources. Our action alerts ask you to join us to make your voice heard to the World Bank or the IMF, to Ministers, MPs, government officials, or CEOs and investors of companies, for example. Look up contact information for Members of Parliament, Export Development Canada, the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank. |

Currency speculation is a huge industry. Over $1.5 trillion is exchanged every day in the hopes of making a quick profit. This has disrupted the ability of governments to maintain their own national economic policies.
