Volunteering at HI

Does our work interest you? Believe in social and environmental justice? Have some time you would like to donate? Come and get involved!

Whether you are a good researcher or writer, know a lot about developing web sites, are good in graphic design, or just want to get the word out about our work, we value your time and effort.

Whether you can volunteer for just a few hours a week, or one day a week, we can use your help.

We need volunteers with all kinds of skills to contribute to our work:

  • Conducting long and short pieces of research and writing for the general public on, for example, different issues related to debt, human rights, and the environment.
  • Helping to update and upgrade our web site.
  • Developing regular communications tools, like our Monthly Issue Updates or Action Alerts or updating our media resources.
  • Creating and updating database of organizations and contacts.
  • Helping out at upcoming events.

Take the first step, and fill in the attached form to help us find identify a way for you to fulfill your own personal goals and objectives for volunteering with the Halifax Initiative Coalition that will complement our work.

The Halifax Initiative

The Halifax Initiative is a Canadian coalition of development, environment, faith-based, human rights and labour groups.

Our goal is to fundamentally transform the international financial system and its institutions, namely the World Bank, the International Monetary Fund and export credit agencies.

By doing so, we hope to achieve poverty eradication, environmental sustainability and the full realization of human rights.
